BARRY COUNTY, Mich. — The Barry County Branch of the National Deer Association welcomed more than 20 young hunters and their families and friends during its annual Youth Deer Pole event, celebrating another successful youth hunting season while reinforcing the branch’s commitment to conservation, hunting heritage, and youth engagement.
This year’s event was hosted at Fox Farm Processing, Inc., where young hunters gathered to share stories from the field, display their harvested deer, and enjoy a morning dedicated to recognizing their hard work and success.
The Youth Deer Pole has become a cherished annual tradition for the branch. The free event provides prizes for every participating child, trophies for successful hunters, and a photo booth where youth hunters can capture memories with their deer alongside family and friends. The event also gives young outdoorsmen and women an opportunity to connect with fellow hunters and share their hunting experiences with the community.
“Thank you for coming out, sharing your stories, and helping conservation,” branch organizers shared. “We love celebrating the successes and efforts of our youth hunters.”
The event serves as more than just a celebration of harvests. Leaders of the Barry County Branch believe strongly in investing in the next generation of hunters by promoting ethical hunting practices, firearm safety, conservation awareness, and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors.
“There is so much value in investing in young hunters,” branch volunteers said. “Our goal is to showcase what kids are accomplishing in the field, celebrate their successes, and recognize the effort they put into preparing for and participating in the hunt.”
Community members were invited to stop by throughout the weekend to view the deer pole, hear hunting stories, and support the area’s youth hunters. Participants also had the opportunity to take photos that will be featured on the branch’s social media pages, helping share their accomplishments with the broader community.
The Barry County Branch extended a special thank you to Fox Farm Processing, Inc. for generously opening its facility and allowing the event to be held on-site.
As another youth season comes to a close, the branch remains focused on its mission of conservation, hunter education, and supporting young people who represent the future of Michigan’s hunting tradition.
With smiles, stories, and plenty of excitement shared throughout the weekend, the annual Youth Deer Pole once again demonstrated the positive impact that mentorship, community involvement, and outdoor education can have on the next generation.
“Good luck, youth hunters. Shoot straight and aim small.”
The Barry County Branch of the National Deer Association looks forward to continuing this tradition for years to come and celebrating the accomplishments of young hunters across the region. Great job crew!
